Ali Sabry Raheem in Trouble Again: MP's Secretary Attempts to Influence NMRA Officials During Pharmacy Raid

The National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) officials encountered resistance during a raid on an unlicensed pharmacy in Puttalam, as the secretary of Parliamentarian Ali Sabri Raheem attempted to influence their actions.

Despite prior warnings issued by District Food and Drug Inspectors, NMRA officials from Colombo organized a raid on the unlicensed pharmacy, seizing a substantial stock of prescription drugs valued at Rs. 2.5 million.

During the raid, the personal secretary of MP Ali Sabri Raheem intervened, allegedly attempting to sway the officials from carrying out their duties. The senior NMRA official swiftly asserted their authority and warned against interference.

The pharmacy owner was arrested and released on bail, with a court date set for March 6th.
