Security Heightened Around Churches for Easter Sunday Services

Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon has issued directives to all police stations to heighten security measures in anticipation of Easter Sunday services at churches across the island.
In response, a significant deployment of security personnel has been mobilized.A total of 6,522 police officers, bolstered by 320 Police Special Task Force officers, alongside 2,746 military personnel, have been strategically stationed to ensure the safety of worshippers attending services at 1,873 Christian churches throughout the region.

The heightened security measures come as a proactive step to prevent any potential security threats, following previous incidents. Authorities are committed to ensuring the peaceful observance of Easter Sunday services, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding the safety and security of all citizens.
