Afternoon Showers Expected Across Sri Lanka

 

The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory predicting showers in several parts of Sri Lanka, particularly in the afternoon hours. 

 Showers or thundershowers are anticipated in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Northwestern, and Northern provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m.
Additional showers or thundershowers may occur in the Central, North-central, and Uva provinces during the afternoon or night.
Certain areas in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces may experience fairly heavy showers exceeding 50 mm.
Misty conditions are expected in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts during the morning hours.
Off the coast, from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle, showers or thundershowers are forecasted in the evening or night.

Wind patterns are expected to be South-westerly or variable, with speeds ranging between 20-30 kmph. However, wind speeds may occasionally increase up to 40-45 kmph, particularly in sea areas extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Galle to Hambantota via Matara.
 Sea conditions may become fairly rough at times, especially off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Galle to Hambantota via Matara.
During thundershowers, temporary strong gusty winds and very rough seas are anticipated.

Residents and seafarers are advised to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.
