Minister Mervyn Silva’s son, Malaka silva has been hospitalized in the wee hours of Saturday after being assaulted in a night club in Bambalapitiya.
Silva has reportedly been assaulted by a Scottish national and the Police are still conducting inquiries on the matter. Police said a friend of Malaka Silva had lodged a complaint with the police over the incident.
Hospital sources told Asian Mirror that Malaka Silva’s condition was not critical.
Silva's name was mentioned in connection with a number of controversies in the recent past. Last year, he was assaulted by an unidentified group at the car part of Odel over an incident involving a girl.
Before that, he allegedly assaulted an Army officer inside a hotel premises in Colombo and the latter sustained head injuries. However, no action was taken against the Minister’s Son.
Malaka Silva’s entry into politics has already been announced by his father. The Minister had indicated his son would enter politics from the district of Matara. Malaka Silva openly claimed that he wanted to be the Education Minister of Sri Lanka one day!
