Colombo High Court today granted permission to Democratic Party Leader Sarath Fonseka to leave the country for a period of one month to obtain medical treatment.
Democratic Party Leader and former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka sought permission from the Colombo High Court to visit Singapore for one month.
Colombo High Court Judge Devika Tennakoon said the permission was valid from today. The judge gave permission after taking into consideration medical reports filed by Fonsekas' lawyers.
Two months after Sarath Fonseka survived a suicide bomb assassination attempt , he was taken to Singapore for medical treatment.
He received extensive medical treatment for a few months before re-assuming duties as the Commander of Army in June, 2006. It was reported that Fonseka was still suffering from complications of the serious wounds he received due to the clash.
