The Jathika Hela Urumaya is still undecided on whether to support common candidate of the opposition Maithripala Sirisena.
Speaking to media last night, JHU Media Spokesperson Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe said that JHU will take the final decision after convening the Central Committee.
Meanwhile, JHU General Secretary Patali Champika Ranawaka confirmed through his facebook page a few hours ago that the final decision has still not be taken. Ranawaka said that a final decision can be taken only after discussing his policies and method of action.
Ranawaka has also added that the JHU will never agree to any constitutional amendment which will destabilize the country or endanger its unitary state. The constitutional amendment should curtail the power of executive presidency and also should ensure the independence of the judiciary, electoral reform and reducing corruption so that good governance is promoted.
