Former Education Services Minister Duminda Dissanayake yesterday (23) handed over his official vehicle and his official residence to the government.
Sources told Asian Mirror that the former Education Services Minister handed over the official vehicle to the Secretary of the Education Services Ministry, Kanthi Perera. Dissanayake is supposed to handover the official residence today (24).
Dissanayake was among the UPFA stalwarts who crossed over to the common opposition led by the common candidate Maithripala Sirisena. Dissanayake was also present at the controversial ‘Maithri Paalanayak’ press conference in which the former General Secretary of the SLFP Minister Maithripala Sirisena declared himself as the common candidate for the Presidential Election 2015.
Following the press conference, President Mahinda Rajapaksa sacked Dissanayake from his ministry and removed him from positions he held in the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
Dissanayake is the son of former Chief Minister of the North Central Province, the late Berty Premalal Dissanayake.
UPFA Parliamentarian Dr. Rajiva Wijesinha who also crossed over to the common opposition told Asian Mirror that he handed over his official vehicle immediately after receiving a message from the Presidential Secretariat.
