Range Bandara And Thevarapperuma Confirm They Won't Join The Govt

November 24, 2014

UNP MPs Palitha Range Bandara and Palitha Thevarappeuma have assured that they won’t cross over to the government.

Making a special statement in Parliament, Range Bandara refuted claims that he was going to crossover. The Parliamentarians said the rumours were spread by media and there was no truth in them.

Thevarapperuma too will make a special speech in Parliament saying he would not leave the United National Party.

Range Bandara and Thevarapperuma had told their close associates that they decided to stay in the main opposition party, despite the issues they had to face in the past.

Meanwhile, there were romours that two other UNP Parliamentarians, namely Dilip Wedaarachchi and Buddhika Pathirana, would cross over to the government. The Two MPs are staunch supporters of UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa.

The two MPS have still not made a public statement, clearing the air over the matter.

However, MP Sajith Premadasa has openly expressed his support to common candidate Maithripala Sirisena. At the Working Committee meeting which was held on Friday, Premadasa said he would be more than happy to see the downfall of the present government.
