November 25, 2014

Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara has stated that blocking the transmissions of Sirasa TV during the special “Satana” political talk show attended by opposition’s common candidate Maithripala Sirisena was an act of a fool.

It was an act of the enemies of the government, he added, answering a question at a UPFA press conference yesterday.

Meanwhile North Western Province Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera said that the government was informed that it was a problem with transmission. He added that the government is against what happened and looking into it at present.

The “Satana” special program was telecasted through Sirasa TV and Sirasa FM from 7.30pm to 10.00pm on last Saturday. Maithripala Sirisena, Athuraliye Rathana Thera, JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Dr. Rajitha Senaratne took part. The transmissions were blocked in satellite TV services Peo TV and Dialog TV.

Asian Mirror, yesterday, exclusively reported that the President had lashed out at a telecommunication boss over the controversy involving the Satana programme on Sirasa. The official had got an earful from the President when he said that it was a technical fault.
