In a complaint to the Kollupitiya police, Deputy Minister of Environment and Renewable Energy Abdul Cader has alleged that an anonymous caller gave him death threats via phone last Monday night.

He told police that he received death threats over the phone while he was staying at his residence in Kollupitiya.

The Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage permitted the Police to obtain a court order from the mobile phone service provider to provide details pertaining to several telephone numbers that are alleged to have been used by the anonymous caller.

Cader represented the United National Party in the Parliament for many years and he later crossed over to the government.
