JVP Files Petition Against KP

Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Parliamentarian Vjitha Herath today filed a writ application with the Court of Appeal against former LTTE leader Kumaran Pathmanathan alias KP.

The JVP through their petition has also sought an investigation into Kumaran Pathmnathan’s assets.

Meanwhile, JVP Central Committee Member Ramalingam Chandrasekaran earlier said that there were serious doubts appearing as to what the relationship KP and the Rajapaksa government was. It is learned that the former president Mahinda Rajapaksa had requested President Maithripala Sirisena to provide KP with full security.

Chandrasekaran has told media that there were serious doubts arising due to this request. He questions whether the Rajapaksa family had divided the wealth that was said to be under the control of KP.

He added that there are hundreds of youth once nourished by KP and now languishing in prisons with no resolution of their cases.

However, Kumaran Pathmanathan has been maintain silence to the allegations and has refused to comment regarding the matter to both foreign and local media.
