Baddegama Magistrate ordered to release the surrendered passport of UPFA MP Nishantha Muthuhettigama today (23)
Muthuhettigama was accused of damaging the stage of an election rally of Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena in Wanduramba last December and damaging two shops in Udappuwa.
He was also accused of attempting to forcefully release two suspects in police custody. He was arrested at BIA on December 28 and his passport was impounded by the court.
Today when the court case was summoned again Muthuhetigama asked to release the passport saying that he wants to visit Singapore. Therefore the Magistrate ordered to release the passport for a period of month.
Baddegama Magistrate Chandima Edirimanne fixed the next hearing of the case for March 23.
