A top level spokesman of the United National Party told Asian Mirror that the party has still not arrived at any agreement with Kumar Sangakkara on contesting the forthcoming General Election.
Meanwhile, a senior Cabinet Minister told Asian Mirror on Friday that the party is presently holding discussions with several popular figures who have been identified as potential candidates to be fielded at the General Election, which is to be held in June.
He also added that a special meeting in connection with the General Election was held at Sirikotha on Thursday which was attended by some key office bearers of the United National Party. It was clearly communicated at the meeting that the party was keen on going for an election immediately after the 100 day programme.
