The Colombo High Court today (20) issued notice on Minister Rajitha Senaratne and his son Eksath Senaratne to appear before the court on April 02 in connection with the case filed against the alleged abduction of an underage girl.
At a press conference held on March 15, the girl’s father, Gamini Ranasinghe, alleged that his daughter was abducted by Eksath Senaratne, a son of Heath Minister and Cabinet Spokesperson Dr. Rajitha Senaratne.
He added that his daughter who at the time was preparing for the London Ordinary Level examination was abducted on February 14, 2014.
“Both Rajitha and her wife are aware of this since Eksath Senaratne is keeping my underage daughter at their official residence in Colombo,” he said.
However, the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) interfered and we got our child back, the father said. The girl’s mother said her daughter was yet again abducted by the Minister’s son on April 6, 2014.
However, Minister Senaratne has denied the allegations describing it as a mudslinging campaign against him after all he did to topple the former government.
Police Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said the preliminary investigations have suggested that the girl was over 16 years old at the time of the abduction. However, the parents later hit out at the police for conducting a one sided inquiry.
