Democratic Party leader Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka on Saturday (11) hit out at Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Galagodaaththe Nanasara Thera, saying that he had no right to demand President Maithripala Sirisena’s resignation.
He also added that by practicing the philosophy of Buddhism, Gnanasara Thera could do a better service for the country.
Replying to a question during ‘Satana’ political talk show on Sirasa TV, Fonseka said that Gnanasara Thera could speak in that manner only because the ‘good governance’ government does not seek revenge like past governments.
“For the past few years we all saw which side he and his organization were in. He did not utter a single word against misdeeds and corruptions of Rajapaksa regime. If he talked in this manner then, everyone would have been able to see his fate” Fonseka said.
Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera recently told media that President Maithripala Sirisena should pack his bags and leave so as to allow a leader with a backbone to rule the country, which he claimed was fast heading towards anarchy.
