Tamil Nation Alliance leader R. Sampanthan stated that the 19th Amendment will lead to restoration of democracy

Speaking at the debate on the 19 th Amendment, he stated further that the amendment will ensure that people will be true repository of executive, legislative and judicial powers.

Sampanthan added that Sri Lanka now has a president who does not want to be president again. Furthermore, he wants to reduce his powers and it is a very healthy sign, the TNA leader stated.

Parliament has to pass the 19th Amendment since it was the verdict of the people on January 8 that this Parliament enact constitutional changes promised by Maithripala Sirisena, said Sampanthan.
