Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Media Spokesman Rohan Welivita stated that Rajapaksa was not made aware of a meeting between him and President Maithripala Sirisena on Wednesday.
It was earlier reported that Sirisena and Rajapaksa will meet at Presidential Secretariat on Wednesday. However, Welivita said that Rajapaksa was unaware of an impending meeting. He also said that this could be a deliberate attempt to portray Rajapaksa as the one who backed off from such a meeting, if it was not held.
However, Sri Lanka Freedom Party Media Spokesperson Dilan Perera said that there were no factions in SLFP and all were in the same party. Speaking to Asian Mirror, he said that the meeting between Rajapaksa and Sirisena will take place as announced.
There will only be one condition, and that is to send PM Ranil Wickremesinghe home, Perera further stated.
