Panadura Pradeshiya Sabha Opposition leader and another person were arrested by police yesterday over a dispute between them, Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said.
The incident occurred at the new market complex at Keselwatte area. It was to be opened in the afternoon by Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga. However, the PS Opposition Leader Saheer Fhasy had declared it open by force on Friday morning. The contractor had opposed which led to a clash.
Both the PS Opposition Leader and the contractor had made complaints against each other at Panadura Police, ASP Gunasekara told Asian Mirror. Furthermore, both have been admitted to Panadura Hospital.
Police arrested both the Opposition Leader and the contractor and they are now been kept at the hospital under police protection, Gunasekara added. If the two parties are unable to come to an agreement, police will take the matter to courts today, he further stated.
