UPFA MP Faizer Mustapha was appointed as a Legal Adviser to the President of Sri Lanka.
Mustapha, a practicing lawyer, entered politics in 2004. He was elected to parliament from Kandy District the same year.
He served as Deputy Minister of Technology and Research and thereafter Deputy Minister Investment Promotion until he crossed over to the opposition in December 2014 backing the then ‘common candidate’ Maithripala Sirisena at the 2015 presidential election.
Musthapha resigned from this ministerial post just after a month after taking office claiming personal reasons. He said that he wants to give more time to his legal profession but added that he will continue to support the government despite his resignation.
