The Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division registered a case with the Fort Magistrate Courts against Western Provincial Council Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga today.

 

The case was registered on a complaint filed by a businessman from Moratuwa named Jehard Mendis. The complaint said that Ranatunga had solicited a bribe of Rs. 64 million for services rendered by him and accepted a bribe of Rs 15 million.

 

The complaint said that the bribe was solicited for issuing a certificate to allow reclamation and development of a land belonging to Mendis.
