Nominations Given To Supporters Of Sirisena, Rumors Of Defection False: Premajayantha

UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha refuted reports that certain prominent members of the alliance will not be given nominations, saying that even those who supported President Maithripala Sirisena during the presidential election will be granted nomination from the party.

He made this observation taking part in the 360 political talk show on Derana TV last night, when he was asked if they are not being considered for nominations. It was pointed out to him that rumors had circulated on their imminent defection due to them not being granted nominations.

Premajayantha said that MKDS Gunawardena has been recommended as Trincomalee District team leader. Dr. Rajitha Senaratne will contest from Kalutara and Hirunika Premachandra from Colombo, he further said.

Meanwhile, Premajayantha revealed that Minister Duminda Dissanayake discussed the nominations in Anuradhapura District yesterday.

Meanwhile, President Sirisena is meeting UPFA leaders this morning at his residence to discuss the matters pertaining to nominations.
