Justice Abrew's FR Petition Fixed For To Be Mentioned On July 14

The Fundamental Rights petition filed by Supreme Court Justice Sarath de Abrew was fixed for to be mentioned on July 14 by a bench presided by the Chief Justice.
 
The case was considered today by a bench comprising of Justice Upali Abeyratne and Justice Anil Gunaratne.
 
Meanwhile, the President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka informed court that the BASL intends to act as an intervening party in this case. Meanwhile, senior lawyer J.C. Weliamuna informed that Supreme Court that he will appear for the aggrieved party.
 
Furthermore, the Supreme Court ordered the Registrar of the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court to hand over the court proceedings to the Supreme Court. This order was given in response to a complaint by the Attorney General. The AG complained that the Mount Lavinia Magistrate acted in a biased manner since Abrew is an official of a higher judiciary.
