Dumindu Bandara, a producer and a presenter at Hiru TV, entered the contest for parliament earlier today from the United National Party.

Bandara signed nominations to contest under the UNP ticket from Moneragala District.

Bandara joins a growing 'club' of TV journalists who have entered the political battleground in recent years. There are several such former television personalities who have entered the election this year.

It was earlier reported that Niroshan PRemaratne, a former presenter on ITN, was entering the election battle. Several presenters from Sirasa TV are entering their first general election this year.
