Chathuranga Abeysinghe, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, has sent a Letter of Demand to Waruna Rajapaksha, citing alleged defamatory statements.

According to a statement from the Deputy Minister’s Office, the action was prompted by a series of false allegations published on Rajapaksha’s YouTube channel. The letter seeks monetary compensation for the reputational damage caused.

The dispute originates from allegations concerning the Deputy Minister’s supposed meeting at the Kingsbury Hotel. It was claimed he, along with NPP MP Najith Indika, met a businessman to discuss a distillery licence under improper circumstances. Abeysinghe’s legal action formally contests these claims.
