Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Member of Parliament S. M. Marikkar stated that the current government is responsible for every death that has occurred due to the disaster situation.

He also mentioned that steps will be taken to file a criminal case against the government.

Marikkar made these remarks while addressing a press conference held yesterday (1).

Stressing that the current disaster is as “inhumane” as the Easter Sunday attacks, Marikkar said they would proceed with legal action against the current regime in the same manner that court cases were filed against the Rajapaksa family for bankrupting the country.

He added that a lawsuit will also be filed regarding the lack of preparedness and failure to act despite prior warnings.

“On Monday (1) we expected to wake them up in Parliament. Because this is as inhumane as the Easter Sunday attack. Just as we took the Rajapaksas to court regarding the bankruptcy of this country, we hope to file a criminal case against the current government. Because this government is responsible for every person who died. We are ready to file cases against them for failing to make prior preparations despite having prior warnings,” Marikkar said.
