Former minister Wajira Abeywardena said that holding a parliamentary election is the most appropriate course of action at this juncture.
He made these remarks while addressing a media briefing.
Elaborating on his position, Abeywardena said that an election would provide clear answers to the current political situation.
“If any election is held now, we will get the answer. That is all I have to say. The most suitable and sensible step at this time is to test the situation by calling a parliamentary election. Only then can the real numbers be accurately assessed,” he said.
