The Government is prepared to take up the No-Confidence Motion (NCM) to be moved against Minister of Education Dr Harini Amarasuriya on 22 and 23 of this month, said Minister of Health Dr Nalinda Jayatissa in Parliament today (20).

He stated that if the Opposition is unwilling to proceed with the NCM on those dates, the Government is prepared to instead hold a postponement debate on education reforms on Thursday and Friday.

Meanwhile, at the commencement of today’s sittings, Leader of the House Bimal Rathnayake queried from the Opposition when it intends to bring the NCM against the Prime Minister.

Responding, Chief Opposition Whip Gayantha Karunatileka said the motion would be presented “according to our own time and terms,” adding that what needs to be done would be done at the appropriate time.
