A 26-year-old man has been arrested by Pinnawala Police over the alleged assault of two children after a video of the incident circulated on social media.
According to Police, the video shows the suspect allegedly assaulting a four-year-old female child and a seven-year-old male child while the incident was being recorded.
Acting on information received regarding the video, Pinnawala Police arrested the suspect on the night of 19 August. He is a resident of the Pinnawala area in Balangoda.
The two children were admitted to the Balangoda Hospital for medical examinations following the incident.
Pinnawala Police are conducting further investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and to initiate further legal action against the suspect.
