Sri Lanka Police has temporarily suspended the issuance of Police Clearance Certificates following a breakdown in the database system used by Police Headquarters.
Police said the automated system, which handles applications, report verification and certificate printing at the Police Clearance Branch on the 17th Floor of the Suhurupaya Building in Battaramulla, has been out of operation since 12:50 p.m. on Thursday (20).
The Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) has been informed of the technical failure, and measures are underway to restore the system.
Police Headquarters has requested the public to refrain from submitting applications for Police Clearance Certificates until the system is restored.
The Police Media Division said applications could be submitted once the system becomes operational again.
