Former Minister Johnston Fernando has claimed that MP Namal Rajapaksa is being summoned before the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) because the Government is unable to tolerate the growing public support around him.
Fernando made the remarks while speaking to the media when Rajapaksa appeared before the FCID on Friday (21).
He described the move as an “unsuccessful attempt” by the Government in response to Rajapaksa’s growing popularity and claimed that the Government would face the consequences of such actions in the future.
“We come whenever we are asked to come. We have done nothing wrong, so we are not afraid to face these investigations. This is nothing new. This is simply an unsuccessful attempt because they cannot tolerate seeing the crowds gathering around Namal Rajapaksa. The Government will fall further. There will be consequences for these actions in the future,” Fernando said.
