Through a strategic collaboration, PhysioPremiere and Physio Medicare have partnered with LUXUZ, an organization dedicated to “Creating Luxury Branded Events,” to enhance the scale and impact of this collective national initiative.

PhysioPremiere and Physio Medicare, together with LUXUZ as joint organiser, are set to take their message of movement, mobility and preventive health to a wider audience with Move It Sri Lanka 2.0, a national movement initiative organised to commemorate World Physiotherapy Day.

Following the success of its inaugural edition, Move It Sri Lanka returns this year on a larger scale, bringing together people of different ages and abilities around a simple message: an active life is a healthier life.

The event will be held on Sunday, 6 September 2026, at Frazer Park, Dehiwala, from 6.00 a.m. onwards, featuring a 10km run, 5km run, 2km fun walk and a 100m Para Athlete Showcase. The programme is designed to create opportunities for individuals, families, corporate teams, fitness enthusiasts and people with disabilities to participate in physical activity at a level that suits them.

Making Movement Part of Everyday Life

Move It Sri Lanka 2.0 seeks to encourage Sri Lankans to move beyond increasingly sedentary lifestyles and recognise regular physical activity as an essential part of everyday wellbeing.

The initiative goes beyond competitive sport, positioning physical activity as something accessible to everyone. Whether through walking, running or simply making more active choices throughout the day, the organisers aim to encourage sustainable habits that can contribute to physical wellbeing, mental health and a better quality of life.

“Move It Sri Lanka is about changing the way we think about movement. You do not have to be an elite athlete to lead an active life. Every walk, every run and every decision to move more is a step towards a healthier individual and a healthier society,” said Nilakshi Kasilingam, Founder of PhysioPremiere and Physio Medicare.

Move It Sri Lanka 2.0 shows what happens when purpose meets precision. At LUXUZ, we live by Creating Luxury Branded Events, and partnering with PhysioPremiere and Physio Medicare let us bring that same standard to a cause worth caring about,” said Lucky Arsacularatne, Founder and CEO of LUXUZ.

The expansion of the event reflects the organisers’ ambition to create a broader public platform for conversations around physical activity, mobility and preventive health. The inclusion of the 100m Para Athlete Showcase further strengthens the event’s commitment to inclusion, demonstrating that movement and participation should be accessible to people of every ability.

The growing scale of Move It Sri Lanka 2.0 has been made possible through a network of partners from the private sector, healthcare, wellness, media and community spaces.

Nestlé Nestomalt joins as Title Sponsor, Media and communications support comes from Wijeya Newspapers (Media Partner),Adithya Ayurveda (Wellness Partner), Bestrends.lk (Footwear Partner). Additional support comes from  Asian Mirror (Online Media Partner) and in10nt (Social Media Partners) and FireCircle (PR Partner), OneTicket (Ticketing Partner), BIOFROST (Pain-Relief Partner), Studio CLICK (Photography Partner), Cinematic Productions (Videography Partner) and Rotary PanColombo (Community Partner).

The collaboration brings together organisations from different sectors around a common objective: encouraging greater public participation in physical activity and creating awareness of the role physical activity can play in maintaining healthier lives.

The event will offer an inclusive, energetic community experience, with all participants receiving event T-shirts, finisher medals and e-certificates.

For PhysioPremiere and Physio Medicare, Move It Sri Lanka 2.0 represents the next stage of an initiative that began on a smaller scale and has grown in both reach and ambition.

At its heart is an effort to broaden the public understanding of physiotherapy and physical wellbeing. Rather than viewing physiotherapy only as something sought after an injury, the organisers hope to encourage greater awareness of movement, mobility and physical activity as important components of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Under the theme “One Country… United by Every Ability,” Move It Sri Lanka 2.0 ultimately seeks to bring people together through movement and demonstrate that an active and healthier Sri Lanka can begin with something as simple as taking the first step.
