Strategic MoU pairs CCECC’s international engineering capability with Deep Tec’s local implementation experience, targeting solar-powered water and sanitation infrastructure nationwide

Deep Tec Engineering (Pvt) Ltd, Sri Lanka’s leading solar water pumping company, has been appointed an Authorised Local Engineering and Business Partner of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), under a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding.

The partnership brings together CCECC’s international engineering capabilities with Deep Tec’s local engineering expertise, market knowledge and project implementation capacity, and is expected to focus on sustainable infrastructure and environmental engineering solutions including solar-powered sewage treatment systems, solar-powered drinking water systems, solar-powered water purification systems, and broader clean-water infrastructure.

The collaboration is designed to support government institutions, development agencies, industries and communities across Sri Lanka that are seeking sustainable solutions for water, sanitation and environmental management — and marks a significant step in Deep Tec’s evolution from a specialised solar water pumping company into a broader sustainable engineering and clean-water solutions provider.

“This partnership allows us to bring world-class engineering capability to Sri Lanka’s water and sanitation infrastructure needs, while ensuring every project is grounded in local expertise and long-term reliability,” said Thilina Hettiarachchi, Founder and Managing Director of Deep Tec Engineering. “Our strength has always come from combining global technology and partnerships with deep local engineering knowledge — this is the next step in that vision.”

Founded in 2014 and active in solar water pumping since 2017, Deep Tec has grown into Sri Lanka’s leading solar water pumping company, with more than 5,000 completed water infrastructure projects across 25 districts and over 50,000 farmers who rely on its systems nationwide — covering an estimated 24% of rural water pumping demand in Sri Lanka. The company also operates more than 13MW of grid-connected solar PV capacity, and has delivered institutional infrastructure projects valued at more than USD 3 million with organisations including the World Bank, the United Nations, and World Vision, and has executed landmark national projects such as the advanced water supply and fire safety infrastructure at the Port City Colombo development.

The CCECC partnership adds to a growing list of strategic collaborations for Deep Tec, including a recent Memorandum of Understanding with the Young Members Section of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL YMS) under its AgriTech Spark initiative, aimed at bringing young engineers and innovators into Sri Lanka’s agricultural technology sector.
