Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage made history by becoming the first Sri Lankan athlete to win a Wanda Diamond League title after emerging as the 2026 men’s javelin throw champion.
Rumesh secured the historic crown after winning the men’s javelin event at the Diamond League meeting in Brussels, Belgium.
The achievement marks Sri Lanka’s first-ever overall Diamond League title and another major milestone for the country in international athletics.
