The Proceeds of Crime Investigation Division has decided to investigate allegations that Yoshitha Rajapaksa and Rohitha Rajapaksa, sons of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, used three Muslim individuals to acquire ownership of a 135-acre tea estate, Dinamina newspaper reported.

The decision follows a complaint lodged by the Citizens’ Power Against Bribery, Corruption and Waste. The organisation’s Chairman, Kamantha Thushara, submitted the complaint to the Director of the Proceeds of Crime Investigation Division on August 20.

The Division has informed the complainant in writing that an investigation will be conducted into the complaint.

It has also requested Thushara to appear at Police Headquarters at 9 a.m. on September 14 to record a statement and submit documentary evidence supporting the allegations contained in the complaint.
