Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama yesterday (1) ordered that eight notebooks allegedly containing records of drug trafficking by Kehelbaddara Padme be sent to the Government Analyst for handwriting examination.
Padme, who was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, is currently in remand custody.
The CID informed the court that investigators had recovered eight notebooks suspected of containing records relating to the suspect’s drug network.
Investigators sought an order to send the notebooks, containing names, locations and numerical entries, to the Government Analyst to compare the handwriting with that of the suspect.
After considering the submissions, the Magistrate granted the request and ordered that Padme be further remanded until October 15.
