The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) recorded a statement from former Presidential Secretary and Finance Ministry Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundara for nearly four hours yesterday (1) in connection with the SriLankan Airlines Airbus purchase deal.

Investigators visited Jayasundara’s residence to record his statement as part of the final phase of the Commission’s probe. He served as Finance Ministry Secretary when the deal took place.

On September 29, the Attorney General’s Office informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court that CIABOC’s investigation under the Bribery Act and the Criminal Investigation Department’s money laundering investigation into an alleged US$ 2 million bribe linked to the 2013 deal had been concluded.

The Attorney General’s Office said it expected to review the relevant investigation files swiftly, issue instructions promptly and file charges arising from both investigations under a single indictment.
