Sanjaya Samarasinghe, private secretary to MP Namal Rajapaksa, was arrested yesterday (19) by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
The Commission said Samarasinghe was arrested following extensive questioning after he appeared before investigators to provide a statement in connection with an ongoing investigation.
Several days earlier, CIABOC officers conducted an unannounced search of his residence in Mount Lavinia and took custody of a safe for further examination.
Samarasinghe was expected to be produced before court after investigators recorded statements concerning assets and financial matters under investigation.
