Sri Lankans seeking employment in Israel will be recruited exclusively through government-to-government (G2G) agreements from 2027, following a new policy decision by the Israeli government.
The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) stated that the Sri Lankan Embassy in Israel had officially informed it of the policy change.
Accordingly, the existing recruitment programme for employment in Israel through licensed foreign employment agencies will be discontinued from 31 December 2026.
The new policy will apply to all employment sectors, including construction, industry, commerce and services.
However, official details regarding the new recruitment mechanism, the number of workers to be recruited and the selection procedures to be introduced in 2027 have yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, the SLBFE has warned job seekers against making payments to individuals or foreign employment agencies claiming to provide employment opportunities in Israel.
The Bureau has also advised prospective applicants not to participate in skills assessments, interviews or other recruitment procedures organised by private parties until further official instructions are issued.
