The government will further review the IMF agreement to provide additional concessions to the public, Deputy Finance Minister Harshana Sooriyaperuma told Parliament today.

He stated that the agreement has already been partially revised, introducing tax and financial relief measures. These include increasing the PAYE tax threshold to Rs 150,000, exempting milk food products from VAT, and granting Rs 6,000 to underprivileged children for school stationery.

“This assistance will also be extended to children from families not receiving Aswesuma benefits,” the Deputy Minister added.
