Police have seized 123 live rounds of ammunition from a bag found in the overhead rack where passengers place their belongings. The ammunition was discovered inside a small metal box within the bag.

Acting on a tip-off, officers from the Bandarawela Police Station inspected a bus traveling from Colombo to Badulla near the Bandarawela bus stand in the Bandarawela Police Division yesterday (22). During the search, they found the ammunition, but no suspects were identified.

The recovered stock included 113 rounds of pistol ammunition, nine rounds of T-56 ammunition, and one round of T-56 LMG ammunition.
