Both the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will vote against the Appropriation Bill 2025, it was announced in Parliament today (21 March).

Today marks the final day of the Committee Stage debate on the Appropriation Bill 2025.

SJB MP Mano Ganesan declared his party’s decision, stating, “This budget is like a fairy tale. They don’t know what they are saying. I also don’t see any progressive proposals for Malayaga Tamils in this budget.”

SLPP MP D.V. Chanaka also confirmed his party’s stance, saying, “Our three MPs—myself, Namal Rajapaksa, and Chanaka Madugoda—will vote against the budget. This government has reduced the quality of drinking water, neglected unemployed graduates, and deceived people by promising fuel price reductions. We will use our votes against these actions.”
