ASP Kulasiri Udugampola was acquitted by the court in the case related to the 2002 disclosure of a Sri Lanka Army intelligence safe house in the “Millennium City” housing complex in Athurugiriya.

Following nearly two decades of proceedings, Colombo High Court Judge Aditya Patabendige delivered the verdict today (27 March)

In 2005, the Attorney General indicted Udugampola on 19 counts at the Kandy High Court. The charges included revealing state secrets beneficial to enemy forces in violation of the Official Secrets Act, unlawfully arresting and detaining seven Army officers for three days, and making false accusations against them and others.

On 2 January 2002, shortly after the United National Front (UNF) government took office, Udugampola conducted a raid on the Army safe house in Athurugiriya.
