The Public Health Inspectors’ Union (PHIU) has launched an initiative to inspect food and beverages sold in high-traffic public areas in preparation for the upcoming festive season.

According to the association’s president, Upul Rohana, approximately 1,750 Public Health Inspectors have been deployed nationwide for the effort.

The PHIU also highlighted that raw materials used in festive food production are being scrutinised to ensure safety and quality.

Rohana further noted that since 1 December, Public Health Inspectors have conducted over 150 raids across the country to identify and address violations.
