Deshabandu Tennakoon Faces Probe Committee for First Time Today

Suspended Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon is scheduled to appear today (19) before the committee appointed to investigate allegations of misuse of powers associated with the IGP position.

This will be Deshabandu Tennakoon’s first appearance before the investigative committee.

According to the Parliament’s Communications Department, he is expected to appear before the committee around 2:00 PM today.

The committee was appointed under the provisions of the Removal of Public Officers Procedure Act No. 5 of 2002 to investigate the allegations against the IGP.

The committee is chaired by Supreme Court Justice Preethi Padman Surasena.
