Kotahena Student’s Suicide: Action Taken on Ramanathan Hindu Ladies’ College Principal

The principal of Ramanathan Hindu Ladies’ College in Bambalapitiya has been transferred to the Ministry of Education following the tragic suicide of a Grade 10 student from Kotahena who had reportedly faced abuse.

Reports state that a female officer from the Ministry has been appointed to oversee the duties of the principal at the school for the time being.

Meanwhile, the teacher accused of abusing the Kotahena student has been sent on compulsory leave by the Ministry of Education, following a B-report submitted to the police on 9 May.

A statement issued by the Government Information Department confirmed that an internal investigation into the incident has already been initiated.
