Former Minister Duminda Dissanayake has been arrested while staying at an apartment in Thimbirigasyaya, Colombo.
The arrest follows the discovery of a gold-plated T56 assault rifle at a luxury apartment in the Havelock City housing complex. Police investigations have reportedly linked the weapon to Dissanayake, a former Cabinet Minister and senior Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) figure from the North Central Province.
He is currently in the custody of the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) for further questioning.
