Amali Rambukwella, daughter of former minister Keheliya Rambukwella, appeared before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) to provide a statement and has since left the premises.

Meanwhile, Keheliya Rambukwella and his son Ramith Rambukwella are currently in remand custody until 3 October.

The ongoing legal proceedings are connected to an investigation into allegations that, during his tenure as Minister of Mass Media, Health, and Environment, Keheliya Rambukwella appointed relatives and close associates to his personal staff. It is alleged that these individuals were paid salaries with public funds without performing any duties for the government, and were instead engaged in political activities.

During this period, Ramith Rambukwella is said to have served as the minister’s private secretary.

Amali Rambukwella, the daughter, had reportedly held a position at the Ministry of Health as the minister’s operations coordinator during the same period.
