The Supreme Court today (18) ordered that the Fundamental Rights petition filed by the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) regarding the ragging incident involving Charith Dilshan, a second-year student at the Faculty of Technology of Sabaragamuwa University, be taken up for consideration on 18 July.
The BASL is seeking a ruling that the incident constitutes a violation of fundamental human rights, along with an order directing the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.
The petition was heard before a three-judge bench comprising Justices S. Thurairaja, Kumudini Wickremasinghe, and Janak de Silva. The court ordered that the case be listed again on 18 July for further verification of facts.
