CPA Australia showcased its growing presence and professional pathways for aspiring accountants in Sri Lanka at the recently held Festival of Australia education fair, organised by the Australian Government.

Speaking to Asian Mirror, Pramudi Nanayakkara, Business Development Manager for CPA Australia Sri Lanka, emphasised the value of the globally recognised Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualification. With a 138-year legacy and 178,000 members across more than 100 countries, the CPA credential offers Sri Lankan students a competitive edge in the global job market.

“We encourage students to start the CPA qualification alongside their academic degrees, enabling them to enter the corporate world as dual-qualified professionals,” Nanayakkara said. CPA Australia currently has 600 members in Sri Lanka and offers streamlined entry pathways for CIMA, ACCA, and CA holders.

Also speaking at the event, CPA fellow member Rashmi Saenevirathne shared her experience, stating that the CPA qualification “opened many doors and avenues” in her career. “CPA gives you the elevator rather than the ladder,” she added, urging students to consider professional credentials alongside academic qualifications.

The event brought together over 30 top Australian institutions and highlighted ongoing collaborations aimed at helping Sri Lankan students achieve their higher education goals in Australia.
