A conditional order was issued yesterday (14) against three individuals, against alleged defamatory content online targeting Hayeshika Fernando, popularly known as “Teacher Amma”, who conducts online support classes for primary school children.

The court issued order preventing them from disseminating such online contents targeting Hayeshika Fernando.

This is after considering three separate complaints filed against Chaminda Ranaveera alias Sampath, Sudaththa Tilakasiri, and Rajanganaye Saddharathana Thera, under Online Safety Act (OSA).

Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali Jayathunga directed the respondents to refrain from making or sharing any defamatory statements against Fernando on the internet and further ordered them to appear before the court on 28 July to present their responses regarding the allegations.

Attorneys Dhanushka Rahubadda, Darshika Ayomi, and Danusha Udawatta appeared on behalf of the complainant.
